 Teaching our Youth

Studies show that educating girls grows economies, reduces conflict, and improves public health. Critical to our mission is to make sure more girls who step into the classroom remain in school and get the required education. Nigeria is the wealthiest country in Africa yet has more girls out of school than any country globally (UNICEF). Globally, 1 out of 5 children not in school are Nigerian.

"An investment in education pays the best interest." - Benjamin Franklin circa 1700.
Nigeria has the largest population in Africa, with three-fifths of its citizens under the age of 24 (5).
In Nigeria, primary education is sponsored by the government and mandatory for all children.
Surprisingly, only 61% of primary school children attend classes consistently (6). Even more disappointing is the secondary school enrollment rate of 31%. Unfortunately, cultural biases on gender significantly affect the enrollment of female students. Female students' attendance rates can be as low as 47% (7). In 2010, almost 5 million female children were not attending primary school. ADA OKO USA champions the role of education as the most important investment towards humanity, and to be productive members of society, it starts at the primary level. Our organization recognizes that educated females are catalysts to the economy and are more likely to seek healthcare for themselves and their families because they understand the importance. Our mission is to educate communities and eliminate negative stereotypes that inhibit the regular attendance of female students in schools. In addition, we desire to alleviate the financial burden on families with various trust funds targeted at students with the greatest financial need.
